CEDAR BARK CHICKADEE / WREN / DOWNY WOODPECKER / TITMOUSE / NUTHATCH HOUSE
Use this birdhouse and enjoy a summer without the presence of all those pesky biting insects! This multi-species bird house is covered entirely with natural cedar bark. It definitely gives it that quaint, rustic appearance! Chickadees peek under bark for scale, caterpillars, insect eggs, codling moth larvae, beetles, ants, aphids and snails. They will also eat seeds and some fruit. Woodpeckers and Nuthatches tend to patrol trees and feast on spiders, aphids, beetles and caterpillars. They will also feed at your suet feeders in the winter months. With respect to Wrens, we recommend a minimum of 3 houses as the male will fill each house with twigs, then sing loudly to attract a mate. She will choose one house for her first 2-3 broods employing the other houses for her next broods. Wrens will utilize your garden extensively in order to find insects to feed their young. They have been observed making 1200 trips per day to their nest with such insects. They feed on ants, aphids, bees, beetles, caterpillars (especially Gypsy Moth), cabbage caterpillars, spiders, grasshoppers and ticks. A wonderful bird for your garden! Mount the bird house in a tree or on post. (Mounting instructions included.)
This house has an extended roof which acts as a predator deterrent. Side and front openings exist for convenient monitoring and cleaning. Features:
